The Ottokar-Kernstock-Haus , actually new Ottokar-Kernstock-Haus is a mountain hut the section Bruck of the Austrian Alpine Club . It lies at 1619 m above sea level. A. only a few meters north of the Rennfeld summit (1629 m).
The hut is named after the Austrian poet, priest and Augustinian canon Ottokar Kernstock . The model for the construction was the birth house of Peter Rosegger in Alpl near Krieglach, with which a memorial was also placed for this writer and poet.
history
The original hut was inaugurated on July 30, 1911; Ottokar Kernstock took part in the celebrations , while Peter Rosegger was unable to attend due to an illness. For unknown reasons, the house burned down on July 29, 1949. On August 5, 1951, a new, more contemporary hut was inaugurated with the addition of "New".
Approach
The hut is a stage destination on a variant of the Central Alpine Trail, and several climbing options lead to it.
