Ottomar Behnsch

Ottomar Behnsch (born October 24, 1813 in Sagan , † April 2, 1869 in Breslau ) was a German politician and theologian .

Life

The son of a Rentkammer - registrar , studied Behnsch after attending the Jesuit school in Sagan and Gymnasium in Sorau Protestant Theology in Halle (1831-1832) and Wroclaw (1832-1836). During his studies he became a member of the old Halle fraternity of Germania in 1831 and in 1831 or 1832 renonce of the old Breslau fraternity of Arminia . In 1837 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and since June 1837 worked as a private teacher for English and since June 1839 at the high school as an assistant teacher. In 1840 he was elected lecturer for English at the University of Breslau and in 1843 a full teacher at the high school. He worked for the Schlesische Zeitung and the literary newspaper from and for Silesia . From 1846 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine For Christian Catholic Life . In the revolution of 1848/49 he was a member of the Breslau Democrats Association and was elected to the Prussian Constituent Assembly in the Waldenburg constituency , where he belonged to the determined left. Shortly afterwards he was elected to the second chamber of the Prussian House of Representatives. He was later sentenced to prison and removed from the teaching post for his democratic activities. He wrote numerous writings.
