In Tschöll he helped the Algunder rifle companies to end Bavarian rule. Thalguter had a special share in May and August 1809 in the second and third Bergisel battles . In the Battle of the Segenbühel in 1809, he fought as commandant of the riflemen of the Burgraviato and the Vinschgau against the French, with an equal number of men available on both sides. Thalguter knew of the peace treaty between the Kaiser in Vienna and Napoleon , but he continued his plan to defeat the French. The Tyrolean popular uprising ended at the end of November 1809.
