Otyg was a Swedish folk metal band. The term Otyg comes from the Swedish language and translates as garbage / garbage , but it used to be a collective term for mystical figures who, according to old legends, were up to mischief in the wilderness.

Band history

When they released their first demo Bergtagen in 1995, the band consisted of Vintersorg, Cia Hedmark, Mattias Marklund, Daniel Fredriksson, Samuel Norberg and Stefan Strömberg.

The lyrics were completely in Swedish and mostly dealt with nature, the sole songwriter was Andreas Hedlund (Vintersorg), who was supported somewhat by Samuel Norberg. This line-up held out the next two demos ( I Trollskogens Drömmande Mörker and Galdersång Till Bergsfadern ) and the first album Älvefärd (distributed by Napalm Records ).

There was a restructuring in the band, in which Samuel Norberg and Stefan Strömberg left the band, instead of Norberg, Daniel Fredriksson took over the harmonica, lute, jew's harp and key violin in addition to the bass. Instead of Strömberg, Fredrik Nilsson came to the band, who then took over the drums. The second and last album Sagovindars Boning was recorded in this line-up , after which it was over with the band. Vintersorg and Mattias Marklund announced that they were no longer in the mood for Otyg.

The former members of the band are now distributed in various other bands (e.g. Casket Casey ). The dissolution of Otyg also had consequences for Vintersorg's own solo project, he took Mattias Marklund on as a permanent member of his solo project and hit a completely new style, which did not please all fans.
