Ajahn Outhai Dhammiko

Ajahn Outhai Dhammiko (born April 10, 1962 in Sukuma , Champasak Province , Laos ) is the abbot of the theravada - Buddhist monastery Wat Sibounheuang , located in Altlußheim near Heidelberg .

In 1977, 15-year-old Outhai decided to live as a Buddhist monk and moved to Wat Sukuma. There he studied the teachings of the Buddha as a Neen (Buddhist novice) until 1983. In 1983 Ajahn Outhai Dhammiko went to Wat Luang- Pakse as a Phra ( ordained Buddhist monk ) , where he stayed for a year. In 1984 his Buddhist training led him to Wat Xiangyuen in the Lao capital Vientiane . In 1987 Outhai Dhammiko was ordained ajahn (Buddhist teacher), which enabled him to train Buddhist monks himself .

On May 11, 1997, Ajahn Outhai Dhammiko followed the request of the Laotian community living in Germany for spiritual support and came to Germany . He has lived and taught here since 1997, first in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , then in Reilingen near Heidelberg and since 2004 in the newly built Wat Sibounheuang in Altlußheim . Ajahn Outhai Dhammiko belongs to the Sangha of the Theravada forest monks .

The Wat Sibounheuang monastery has now become a place of friendly encounters between many different cultures. Ajahn Outhai sees its main tasks is to people with spiritual advice, instruction in Buddhist teaching and introductions to Vipassana - Meditation support.
