Ovacık is a village in the district of Silifke of the Turkish province of Mersin . The place is about 15 kilometers north of Silifke and 65 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Mersin . Since a regional reform in 2014, the place is no longer a village, but a district of the district town of Silifke.

Ovacık is located in the mountainous hinterland of Silifke, at the meeting point of two roads leading from Narlıkuyu and Atakent to Uzuncaburç , about twelve kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. In the center of the village, next to the mosque and school, there is an ancient tower, called Hançerli , above the door of which four Olbic symbols can be seen. In the district of Gökburç , one kilometer east of the village center, you can see the remains of a late Hellenistic - imperial settlement and an estate ( villa rustica ). In the hamlet of Sarıveliler about 2.5 kilometers northwest there are two rock reliefs and a columnar altar.
