The Owen Peak is around 1700 m high mountain in the eastern Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It projects on the south side of Gruening Glacier inland of on the Black Coast located Hilton Inlet on.
He was discovered on November 21, 1947 during a flight during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). The expedition leader Finn Ronne named him Mount Russell Owen after Russell Owen (1889-1952), a journalist for the New York Times and reporter for the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928-1930). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names changed this name to its current form in 1966.
