The Oxford School of Drama is an acting school in Great Britain . It is the only drama school in Oxfordshire . The Oxford School of Drama was founded in 1986 by George Peck.

The drama school is located in Wootton around 10 miles from Oxford .

Acting training

The school is an independent professional acting school offering different courses. There are one-year and three-year acting courses. The Oxford School of Drama has a very limited number of students. The maximum number of students enrolled is 16 for the one-year course and 18 for the three-year acting course. The final exam of both courses will then take place at Trinity College in London. Six-month basic acting courses are also offered.

Students taking the three-year or one-year acting course can apply for support provided by the government through the Dance and Drama Award (DADA) system. These maintenance grants can include up to £ 4,550 per year.

The head of the school is George Peck. The school is also subject to a board of directors.

Well-known graduates

The Oxford School of Drama has a number of well-known graduates . Among them Christina Cole , who played in James Bond 007 - Casino Royale or in the television series Inspector Barnaby . In 2012 Alexandra Dowling also graduated from drama school. She is best known as the actress who played Queen Anna in the television series The Musketeers . Actress Claire Foy also attended the Oxford School of Drama . She impersonated Amy Dorrit in the film Little Dorrit . Catherine McCormack , who appeared in Braveheart among others , is also a graduate of the facility, as is Annabel Scholey , who gained notoriety for her role in the television series Being Human . The English actress Charity Wakefield also attended this drama school and Anna Walton , who starred in films like Hellboy - The Golden Army , successfully completed her acting training there.
