Oxymoron was a punk band whose members originally come from Erlangen and now live in Berlin . Their music is reminiscent of English punk and Oi! -Bands of the 1980s .

history

The band started in the autumn of 1989. Since that time, the two cousins Sucker and Björn played together with their friends Martin and Filzlaus in a band that was renamed Oxymoron in 1992 .

In 1993 the debut single Beware, Poisonous! recorded and initially published independently at the beginning of 1994; in October 1994 the 7 "was released by Helen of Oi! Records in England.

After Filzlaus left the band, Helen of Oi! Records released the LP Fuck the Nineties ... Here's Our Noize in May 1995 . With the new bass player Arne Oxymoron took the English street punk band Braindance common concerts, the split 7 " Mohican Melodies , which in September 1995 on Knock Out Records was released. The same record company published in 1997 and 1998 older pieces of tape after in March 1996 EP Crisis Identity was released by Arnes Rough Beat Records and the band played concerts for the first time in the USA.

The second LP The Pack Is Back , which was released in April 1997, was again produced by Knock Out Records. Oxymoron then played concerts in Europe and Japan.

1998 were Cock Sparrer - Cover A.U. for the 7 " A Tribute to Cock Sparrer , a new recording by Weirdoz for the split EP Irish Stout vs. German Lager with the Dropkick Murphys and the LP Westworld (Knock Out Records, distributed in the USA by Cyclone Records ); Arne had recorded meanwhile left the band and was replaced by Chrissi.

After numerous concerts (including in the USA) in 1999 the CD Best before 2000 was released again on Knock Out Records , a compilation of all previously published singles and unpublished sampler contributions .

Feed the Breed was released in 2001, and concerts were again played in the USA and Europe.

Maddin was briefly replaced by Berlin's Martin "Abfall" Maruncak, who couldn't cope with the stress of the US tour and literally preferred to leave the band around a week before the end of the tour. He was replaced during the tour by Davey, the band's driver / tour manager. He was also on the band's last tour of Europe in 2002. Since then, the project has been on hold.

In 2007 singer Sucker released the solo album Sucker Stories under the name BAD CO. Project , which stylistically follows on from the last Oxymoron CD and also contains some songs that were originally written for this band. Under this name he started a band with new people in 2008, which in early 2011 released the album Mission Mohawk , which can be described as the legacy of Oxymoron.

Knock Out Records also released a double split LP by Bonecrúsher and Oxymoron in 2007, which, in addition to some previously unreleased Oxymoron songs, also contains three live tracks from a 1998 concert in Hamburg. Furthermore, the songs Run from Reality and I'm Genuine are used as background music in the 2005/2006 season film of Ultras Nuremberg - Gate 8 .
