Ozi

Ozi ( Ozie, Oci ; also Otger, Otgar, Otakar ) (* before 977; † before 1028), probably from the Otakare family , was a count , messenger of violence and missus in the Carinthian Kroatengau and in Friuli ( Margraviate Verona ).

Life

Ozi was probably a son of Count Otakar III. in Chiemgau († 976). In 993 at the latest he became the successor of the Bavarian Count Palatine Hartwig I as a messenger of violence in the Kroatengau . The family's greatest property was in Carinthia on Lake Ossiach , near Villach and Treffen . Around 1024 he founded the Ossiach Abbey .

Count Ozi was married to Glismod von Utrecht, a sister of Bishop Meinwerk of Paderborn. (According to H. Dopsch, however, Ozi's wife was probably Irenburg, who is attested as a co-founder of Ossiach.) Children:
