history

historical postcard from Langenreinsdorf

Langenreinsdorf is a typical double-row Waldhufendorf and was first mentioned in 1240 as Reynhartsdorf , later also as Lengenrensdorf and Rehnsdorf in a document from Vogts Heinrich von Greiz . He gave the place to the Dominican nuns founded in 1238 - Cronschwitz Monastery in Elstertal . With the introduction of the Reformation , the Langenreinsdorfer farmers divided up the monastery forest and each resident estate was allocated a parcel . The plague raged in Langenreinsdorf from 1625 to 1633, killing many people, and the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) did not pass the place by either. In 1638 the Swedes moved into Langenreinsdorf and plundered the place. In 1646 over 100 young farmers were killed in a fight with a Swedish party. To commemorate them, a peasant monument was erected. It was not until 1658 that all the goods were properly managed again. The village also suffered in later times (the Seven Years' War and coalition wars ).

The church, which is still in the village today, originally a chapel from the 13th century, was built in the 15th century in 1467. It has a very high tower, the upper part above the clock was only built in 1727. The church has painted panels on the ceiling and the galleries are also decorated with paintings from sacred history. The font is carved from a single stone. The parsonage, the passage in the half-timbered building and the parish with barn building also belong to the church. All of these buildings are listed .

Langenreinsdorf originally belonged to rule Werdau in the 16th century in the Saxon Office Zwickau opened. Until the Reformation, the manor over the place was at the Cronschwitz Monastery, after which Langenreinsdorf was an official village in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau until 1856 . In 1856 Langenreinsdorf was affiliated with the Crimmitschau court office and in 1875 with the Zwickau administration . A new school was inaugurated in 1878. The Langenreinsdorf volunteer fire brigade has existed since 1940 . Until 1949, none of the 160 residential properties in the village had a bathroom, shower or toilet. During the GDR era, an agricultural production cooperative (LPG) and a dairy cattle shed were established. Many farmsteads with half-timbered buildings still characterize the townscape today, in addition to the church and the parish.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Langenreinsdorf came to the Werdau district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Werdau from 1990 and in the district of Zwickauer Land in 1994 and 2008 rose in the district of Zwickau. On January 1, 1994 Langenreinsdorf was incorporated into Crimmitschau.
