Georg Wellstein

Georg Wellstein (born May 12, 1849 in Oberbiel , Wetzlar district , † October 16, 1917 in Hamm ) was a German lawyer and center party politician .

biography

After graduating from high school , Wellstein began to study law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1868 he became active in the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . As an inactive he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . In 1872 he became a trainee lawyer. After serving as a court assessor between 1878 and 1879, he became a judge at the Braunfels district and district court . In 1887 he was appointed district judge of Ehrenbreitstein and in 1892 he was appointed district judge . In 1898 he was appointed senior judge at the Frankfurt am Main Higher Regional Court and, most recently, in 1909, President of the Senate at the Hamm Higher Regional Court .

In addition to his work as a judge, Georg Wellstein also began a political career. As a member of the Center Party he was elected to the Reichstag (German Empire) in 1893 , where he last represented the constituency of Koblenz 3 ( Koblenz - Sankt Goar in the administrative region of Koblenz ( Kingdom of Prussia ) in the Reichstag election in 1912 until his death in 1917. He was also from 1894 to 1917 also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .
