Wahlen is located in the southern urban area of ​​Crimmitschau on the east bank of the Pleiße . The federal highway 93 is reached in the east via the Hainstraße . The western corridor is crossed by the Leipzig – Hof railway line . Between 1908 and 1963, the Crimmitschau-Wahlen loading point was located in the area of ​​the “Dänkritzer Landstrasse” overpass , where the Crimmitschau – Schweinsburg railway branched off, which was used exclusively for freight traffic .

Wahlen was mentioned in 1343 as "whales". The place was in the Schoenburg care Crimmitschau, which became Wettin in 1413 and in the 16th century in the Electoral Saxon office of Zwickau . Until the 19th century , the manorial power over elections was partly part of the manors Schweinsburg , Kitschergut, Carthauser and Schiedel . A part of the elections was directly subordinate to the Zwickau office as an administrative village.

Elections belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Crimmitschau court office and in 1875 with the Zwickau administration .

On January 1, 1891, elections were incorporated into Crimmitschau. The second district reform in the GDR resulted in Wahlen as part of the town of Crimmitschau in 1952, in the Werdau district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Werdau from 1990 and in 1994 in the Zwickauer Land district or 2008 in the district of Zwickau.
