history

Gosel, Saxon-Thuringian border

The village of Gosel was first mentioned in a document in 1315. Up to the present day Gosel is separated by a national border. In the 19th century the entire town had 22 houses with 135 inhabitants, of which three estates with 27 inhabitants were called Gosel (Saxon Ant.).

Gosel (Saxon Ant.)

Gosel (Saxon Ant.) Was the smaller part of the place in the southwest, which belonged to the manor of the manor Frankenhausen . Politically, this belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau until 1856 . In 1856 Gosel (Saxon Ant.) Was affiliated to the Crimmitschau court office and in 1875 to the Zwickau administration . In terms of church and school, the place belonged to Frankenhausen, into which it was incorporated around 1875. Since 1918 Gosel (Saxon Ant.) Belonged as a district of Frankenhausen to the Free State of Saxony.

Gosel (old Ant.)

The larger part of Gosel was called Gosel (old Arabic Ant.), Which consisted of a contiguous settlement area in the north and splinter areas in the south. These were separated from the rest of the Altenburg part by the Saxon part of Gosel. Gosel (old Ant.) Belonged to the manor of the Ponitz Castle . The place was also ecclesiastically assigned to Ponitz. It belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence . When the Ernestine Duchies were reorganized in 1826, Gosel (old part) came to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg , which assigned the place to the Eastern District (until 1900) and the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900) in terms of administration . As part of the municipality of Ponitz, Gosel belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg from 1918 , which in 1920 became part of the State of Thuringia . In 1922 the place came to the district of Altenburg .

Today's Crimmitschau district of Gosel

In 1928 there was an exchange of territory and a border adjustment between the Free State of Saxony and the State of Thuringia. As a result, the splintered areas of the Thuringian Ponitz part of Gosel in Saxony were ceded to Saxony and incorporated into Frankenhausen. This gave the Saxon Gosel a coherent, enlarged town hall.

When Frankenhausen was incorporated into Crimmitschau, the Saxon Gosel became a district of Crimmitschau on July 1, 1950. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Gosel was allocated as a district of Crimmitschau on July 25, 1952 to the Werdau district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Werdau from 1990 and in 1994 District of Zwickauer Land and 2008 in the district of Zwickau. Today Gosel is run as a district within the village of Frankenhausen.
