Päivi is a Finnish female given name . It is derived from the Finnish word päivä (in German: day ). The name was officially given in Finland for the first time in 1901, and in the late 1950s and 1960s Päivi was among the most popular female first names in Finland. In the Finnish cover version Poika nimeltä Päivi by Leevi and the Leavings of the country classic A Boy Named Sue , Päivi stands for the typical girl's name.
