The PKB Privatbank SA is the asset management specialist Swiss private bank based in Lugano .

The bank was founded in 1958 as a "Privat Kredit Bank" in Zurich . In 1969 she opened her first branch in Lugano, which was followed by another in Geneva in 1984 . With the takeover of "Banque Worms & Cie (Suisse)" in Geneva, which was integrated into the local branch, it expanded its activities further in 1990. In 1998, “Privat Kredit Bank” was renamed “PKB Privatbank AG”, before moving from Zurich to Lugano in 2000 and becoming “PKB Privatbank SA”. In 2004, PKB Privatbank took over the Swiss subsidiary of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena , "Banca Monte Paschi (Suisse) SA".

In 2011, Banca Gesfid SA , which was also based in Lugano, was taken over by merger .

In addition to its headquarters in Lugano, the bank now has branches in Bellinzona , Geneva and Zurich as well as a subsidiary in Saint John's . In addition, PKB Privatbank holds various investments, including 33.94 percent in “ Cassa Lombarda SpA ” in Milan .

PKB Privatbank has a total of 505 employees and at the end of 2016 had total assets of CHF 3.847 billion and customer assets of CHF 13.2 billion.

Ownership

The bank is majority owned by the Italian industrial family Trabaldo-Togna through indirect holdings. PKB Privatbank is wholly owned by Luxembourg- based “Coparfin SA”. This, in turn, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Luxembourg-listed “Compagnie de l'Occident pour la Finance et l'Industrie” (COFI). Coparfin forms the bank arm of COFI and, in addition to PKB Privatbank, holds 99.56 percent of the shares, 65.62 percent of which are direct and 33.94 percent through PKB Privatbank, and also in Cassa Lombarda SpA.

For its part, COFI, founded in 1971, is 51.62 percent owned by his son Umberto Trabaldo-Togna after the death of its co-founder Serafino Trabaldo-Togna in January 2006.
