The locomotives of the EU06 series of the Polish State Railways (PKP) are electric locomotives for the transportation of passenger trains and express trains .

From the beginning of the 1950s to the beginning of the 1960s, the PKP procured several smaller series from foreign manufacturers in various countries due to the lack of national production of locomotives for speeds over 100 km / h. After the EP03 series from ASEA ( Sweden ), EU04 from LEW ( GDR ) and EU05 from Škoda ( Czechoslovakia ), the EU06 series was delivered to PKP in 1962 by the British manufacturer English Electric . The construction is based on the series 83 of the BR .

The procurement of the EU06 series was ended in 1962 after the delivery of 20 locomotives, but in 1965 Pafawag began domestic replicas in the form of the slightly modified EU07 series .

Due to the fact that it is largely identical to the EU07 series, the EU06 series has by far outlived its predecessor series. The decommissioning of the EU06 series has already started, in 2004 there were still 15 EU06 in stock. They are located in the Kraków depot and are used for express and passenger trains. The decommissioning of the remaining locomotives is planned.
