PKZ Burger-Kehl & Co.

PKZ Burger-Kehl & Co. AG is a family business in the textile trade. The abbreviation PKZ stands for "Paul Kehl Zurich". The group includes the fashion chains PKZ Men, PKZ Women, as well as Paul Kehl, Blue Dog and the online shop PKZ.CH. Feldpausch was an independent company that was taken over by PKZ in 1997. Paul and Paul Kehl are the brands that PKZ designs itself. In 2011, the PKZ Group's online shop was opened under the name Thelook.com. With the concentration on the brands PKZ and Paul Kehl, other brands like Feldpausch and Burger disappeared. The name change to PKZ Men & Women was completed with the opening of the 3000 m² women's fashion store in Zurich. Owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors Olivier Burger (* 1954), a grandson of Karl Burger, whose sons had inherited the company in 1935, died in 2015 . The company employs around 600 people.

PKZ Men

PKZ was founded in Winterthur in 1881 by Paul Kehl as a clothing factory (hence the name PKZ: P aul K ehl Z ürich). From 1896 the first branches were opened in Basel , St. Gallen , Lucerne , Lausanne , Winterthur, Zurich and Geneva . After Paul Kehl's death in 1910, his son-in-law Karl Burger took over the company. This also gave rise to the new company PKZ Burger-Kehl & Co. In 1974, PKZ ceased its own clothing production in Switzerland and only operated the retail trade. Since the 1990s, PKZ has expanded from around 15 stores to around 30 PKZ Men stores in Switzerland by taking over the branch businesses of Esco Kleid AG .

PKZ Women

PKZ Women (formerly Feldpausch) is a fashion chain with 11 branches in German-speaking Switzerland. Feldpausch was founded in 1927 by Willy Feldpausch with the opening of the first branch in Basel, further branches, especially in Bern and Zurich, followed over the next few years. In 1997 Feldpausch was taken over by the PKZ group and renamed PKZ Women in March 2014.

Blue dog

In 1994 PKZ took over 24 Esco-men shop branches and spun off the Blue Dog casual wear line for young men and women in Zurich. The trademark is the blue dog. From 1995, PKZ built up the brand in the former branches of the Esco-Men Shops and 12 independent shops were created. After three years of existence, Blue Dog was gradually integrated into PKZ and Feldpausch. Blue Dog was given up, however.
