The Pablo Neruda bust in bronze in Bremen - Horn-Lehe on the campus of the University of Bremen , Enrique-Schmidt-Straße was set up in 2014 as a foundation of the Republic of Chile and is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .

Commissioned by the Republic of Chile, the sculptor José Caroca made the bust in memory of Pablo Neruda (1904–1973). The socialist Chilean poet and writer campaigned against fascism in his home country and in Spain. In 1971 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature on the grounds: "... for a poetry that brings the fate and dreams of a continent to life with the action of a natural force". In 1969 Neruda was nominated as a presidential candidate for the communists, but he renounced in favor of the favored socialist and friend Salvador Allende .
