Pablo Mac Donough

Pablo Mac Donough (born February 21, 1982 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is an Argentine polo player with a handicap of 10 in Argentina, the United States and Great Britain . In 2011 it was number 3 in the world rankings, and in 2017 it reached number 4 in the world rankings.

Life

Like many polo players, Pablo Mac Donough was born into the sport. His older brother, Matias Mac Donough, is also a professional polo player and he is a cousin of Facundo and Gonzalo Pieres , with whom he plays on Team Ellerstina .

His career as a polo player began when he won the Copa Potrillo for Team Centauros in 1996. In 1998 he won the Campeonato Metropolitano de Alto Handicap. At 19 he won both the Copa Camara de Diputados and the youth tournament of the Argentine Open .

In 2002 he won this tournament again and from then on was also successful in many other polo tournaments at home and abroad. He was on the podium at the Copa Republica, Gold Cup Sotogrande, Argentine Club Cup, Ylvisaker Cup, Tortugas Open , CV Whitney Cup, Queen's Cup and Hurlingham Open . Most recently he won the Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow in St. Moritz in 2009 .

2005 and 2007 he lost the final of the Argentine Open against the team in a team Ellerstina La Dolfina of Adolfo Cambiaso , both times after extra time. In 2008 the teams faced each other again in the final, which this time ended successfully for Ellerstina. Before that, Mac Donough, also playing for Ellerstina, was successful in the 2008 Tortugas Open . He has played a total of seven times in the Argentine Open, including three times in the final, and won once.

Mac Donough is set in Argentina, Spain, Switzerland, Great Britain and the USA. He played for teams like El Paraiso, Pony Express, Crab Orchard, Broncos and Ahmibah.

He lives in Daireaux, Buenos Aires Province , and is married to Mercedes Venancio.
