Pablo Melo , full name Pablo Rodrigo Melo , (born July 4, 1982 in Rivera ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

According to his club, the 1.80 meter tall defensive player Melo was under contract at Club Atlético Cerro at the beginning of his career from the Clausura 2000 up to and including the Torneo Clasificatorio 2004 . During this time he played 135 games there and scored seven goals. In the mid-season 2005 he completed 25 league games (one goal) for Danubio . In the Clausura 2006, Apertura 2006 and Clausura 2007 he ran in a total of 26 games (no goal) for the Argentine club Tiro Federal . In the Apertura 2007 he was then again in 14 games (no goal) of the Primera División for Cerro on the field. The year 2008 he spent in ranks of Nacional Montevideo . His playing record shows 21 games (no goal). During the Clausura 2009, the Apertura 2009 and the Clausura 2010 he was again active for Cerro. This was followed in 2010 by a station in Chile at Deportes La Serena . CA San Martín de San Juan , Manta Fútbol Club and América de Cali were his employers in 2011. In 2012 he moved to Liverpool Montevideo . There he played a total of 26 first division games (two goals) in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. In 2013 he joined Aragua FC . For the Venezuelans he was ten times (no goal) on the pitch. For the 2013/14 season he moved back to Club Atlético Cerro. In that season he made 28 appearances in the Primera División until the end of the Clausura 2014 and scored three goals. In the 2014/15 season he was initially used at Cerro in eleven first division games (no goal). He then moved to the second division club Sportivo Cerrito at the end of February 2015 and played 14 second division games (one goal) by the end of the season. At the end of the season he was relegated to the Segunda División Amateur with the club , but stayed with the club as a player.

National team

Melo was a member of the 2001 Uruguayan U-20 selection that took part in the 2001 U-20 South American Championship in Ecuador . There he was used at least in the 1-0 defeat in the group game against Colombia. In Uruguay's U-23 team, the Olympic selection, he completed four international games under coach Juan Ramón Carrasco , when he lost 3-0 to Chile on January 7, 2004, in a 1-1 draw on January 11 2004 against Brazil, in the 1-1 draw against Venezuela on January 13, 2004 and in the 2-1 defeat by Paraguay on January 15, 2004 in the pre-Olympic South American U-23 qualification tournament . He didn't score a goal.

Melo was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his debut on October 15, 2003 under Juan Ramón Carrasco when he was substituted on in the friendly against the selection of Mexico in the 80th minute for the debut Daniel Hernández . For his second international match he came on February 18, 2004 in a friendly against Jamaica. There he was in the starting line-up. His third and last game for the Celeste he completed on October 26, 2005 against Mexico. In this game he was ordered from the field by Jorge Fossati , who is now responsible for the national team, in the 81st minute of the game for Pablo Lima .
