Compared to Hyundai , because of Hyundai's Sonata Hybrid, and Kia , because of the Optima Hybrid, claims for damages in the millions were enforced. Due to corresponding allegations of plagiarism against the company Ford , final decisions were made by the US patent office PTAB in 8 of 25 patent oppositions from Ford . In her lawsuit, Paice was also supported by the Abell Foundation, a venture capitalist . Paice has also lost patent infringement suits.

Paice also claimed in 2016 that VW , Audi, and Porsche stole technology patented by Paice . This dispute was settled out of court in early 2017, but details were not disclosed.
