Palacio Piria
The Palacio Piria is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .
The work of the French architect Camille Gardelle , built in 1917 after the project started the year before, is located in the Barrio Centro at H. Gutiérrez Ruiz 1320 opposite the Plaza de Cagancha . The building, originally conceived as a residential building, can be assigned to the style of historical eclecticism . The first owner was Francisco Piria , who died in this house in 1933. There are now offices in the Palacio Piria. The building serves as the seat of the Suprema Corte de Justicia , the Uruguayan Supreme Court . In front of the Palacio Piria is the Monumento a la Justicia, inaugurated in 1999 by Rafael Lorente Mourelle .
In 1975 the Palacio Piria was named Monumento Histórico Nacional .
