The Palais Rothschild is a former palace in Vienna . It is located at Renngasse 3 in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt .

Building description

The Rothschild Palace was built in 1847 by Ludwig Förster on behalf of Baron Salomon von Rothschild . It was also the seat of the banking house SM v. Rothschild , the largest and most important private bank in Austria until the “ Anschluss ” in 1938 and the subsequent “ Aryanization ” . Today the Schoellerbank is located in this building , which the palace acquired from the Rothschild family in 1951.

The early historical building protrudes around an axis from the street of Renngasse. The remarkable facade has additively lined up, suspected windows as well as a round arch portal, in the bel étage there are Corinthian pilaster frames . The cornice protrudes far.

The interior has been largely redesigned, incorporating older material. A glass staircase (1999/2000) is particularly striking.
