Peter Melichar (born December 18, 1960 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian historian .

Life

Peter Melichar studied history and philosophy in Vienna from 1980 to 1986 . In 1993 he received his doctorate with a thesis on Josephinism . He worked for major exhibitions and was involved in various research projects. From 1999 he worked for the Austrian Commission of Historians , from 2001 for the Bergier Commission . He also conducted research on the social history of the military, the history of intellectual elites, and anti-Semitism . Since 2004 he has worked on the edition of the minutes of the Council of Ministers . Melichar is co-editor of the Austrian Journal of History (ÖZG). Since 2009 he has been the curator for history at the “ vorarlberg museum ” in Bregenz .
