Palazzo Boldù a San Felice

Palazzo Boldù a San Felice (also Palazzo Boldù Ghisi ) is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Cannaregio sestiere overlooking the Grand Canal between the Palazzetto da Lezze and the Palazzo Contarini Pisani .

history

The palace was built in the 16th century for the Boldù family and is one of the "Case Nuove" of the Republic of Venice . At the end of the 17th century it fell to the Ghisi family , who had it rebuilt. Then he was bought by the Contarinis , owners of the neighboring Palazzo Contarini Pisani; they wanted to unite the two buildings, but the project was not carried out. This gives his present view a definite impression of incompleteness, similar to that of Palazzo Flangini .

description

The facade is decidedly asymmetrical; the main window openings on the various floors are shifted towards the neighboring Palazzo Contarini Pisani. The ground floor has a portal to the water and is provided with bosswork , while the upper floors are painted and decorated with stylistic motifs in Istrian limestone . On the first main floor there is a Venetian window , while the second has a triple window of the same width. Due to the pronounced asymmetry, the pairs of individual windows are exclusively on the left side of the facade. The mezzanine between the ground floor and the first floor and the one under the roof are each provided with four rectangular windows. Inside, the frescoes by Jacopo Guarana are remarkable in their optimal state of preservation.
