Palazzo Donà , also called Palazzetto Sangiantoffetti Donà , is a palace in Venice in the Italian region of Veneto . It is located in the Santa Croce sestiere with a view of the Grand Canal between the Palazzo Correggio and the Ca 'Pesaro at the confluence of the Rio delle Due Torre de Santa Maria Mater Domini .

history

The palace was built in the 18th century in place of an older building. Its owners, the Sangiantoffetti , were nobles from the mainland and originally came from Vicenza . They bought into the Venetian patriciate by supporting the war for Candia with considerable sums.

The small, three-story palace has an arched portal to the water in the middle on the ground floor , flanked by two individual arched windows. On the mezzanine floor there are two small, oval windows between two pairs of individual rectangular windows above the portal. The main floor shows a coupled double window with a balcony in the middle . On either side are pairs of simple arched windows. The facade closes at the top with a serrated eaves . Above that is a small dormer window with a single rectangular window. The plastered, white-painted facade is decorated in the lower part of the ground floor with flat bosswork .
