Hall of Mirrors in the Palazzo Gangi-Valguarnera

The Palazzo Gangi-Valguarnera is a palace in Palermo . It is located in Piazza Croce dei Vespri in the historic Kalsa district, near the Galleria d'Arte Moderna .

The palace was built in the 18th century in the Baroque style, the interior is kept in the Rococo style. The back was renewed in 1913 by Ernesto Basile . The stairwell has an idiosyncratic structure: two separate staircases each lead around a square shaft to the upper floor.

There are a number of splendid halls upstairs. The ballroom has a stucco ceiling and frescoes by Elia Interguglielmi . The ceiling of the Hall of Mirrors is frescoed by Gaspare Serenario . The halls on the upper floor served Luchino Visconti as a backdrop for the ball scene in his film The Leopard .
