Korean Olympic Committee
The Korean Olympic Committee (short: KOC ) is the National Olympic Committee of South Korea . It was founded in 1946 and organizes the Olympic movement in South Korea. It takes care of the participation in the Olympic Games and the organization of sporting events. The current president of the KOC is Park Yong-sung . The KOC is located in the Olympic Center in Olympic Park Seoul .

The Korean Olympic Committee was established in 1946. At the 41st General Assembly of the International Olympic Committee in 1947, the KOC was officially recognized by the IOC and thus included in the Olympic movement. The first Olympic Winter Games South Korea took part in were the 1948 Winter Olympic Games in St. Moritz . The first summer games in which South Korean participants took part were the 1948 Summer Olympics in London . Since then, the KOC has participated in all Olympic Games with the exception of the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . Despite the Korean War , it took part in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki .
The KOC brought the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Summer Olympics , both organized by the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee , to Seoul . Hosting these major events increased the popularity of a variety of sports in South Korea as well as the international reputation of the Korean Olympic Committee. The reputation is also based on the sporting successes of the Korean team at the Olympic Games, from 1984 to 1988 they reached the top 10 in the national ranking seven times. The KOC also hosted the Winter Universiade in 1997 , the Winter Asian Games in 1999 and the ANOC General Assembly in 2006 .
Sponsors
The KOC has national sponsorship agreements with the National Federation of Fisheries , Fuerza Sports , Green Hwajae Insurance , Global Tour and Choseon Pharm & Trading . In addition, the KOC participates in the income from the IOC's TOP program.
