The Palazzo del Governatore ( Italian for Governor's Palace ) was the seat of the Italian governor of the colony of Italian Somaliland and the seat of the administrator of Italian Somalia as the representative of Corso Principe Umberto II.
It contained the following halls, among others:
- Arab hall with decorations from the Islamic architecture of the old Mogadishu were derived
- Queen Elena's room with tapestries
- Sala della Giustizia with Gothic style furniture - Aosta Valley
- Meeting room, with representations in the style of the former and a panel by San Giorgio
On the second floor there were the private apartments and the accommodations for the guests of the royal family in the style of '400 Piedmont . Between the castle and the Indian Ocean is the palace of Tra Muzaffar ( Arab governor of Mogadiscio ), which became public due to the excavations of Cesare Maria De Vecchi .
The building of the former palace has been in an extremely ruinous state since the fall of the Siad Barre regime in 1992 .
