Paluan is a Filipino township in Occidental Mindoro Province , founded on January 5, 1901. It has 16,025 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census). On the territory of the municipality lies Mount Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary , one of the oldest nature reserves of the Philippines. The community is located at the western exit of Isla Verde Road to Calavite Road and the South China Sea . The Calavite Strait separates Mindoro from the Lubang Islands .
