MIMAROPA or Region IV-B is a Philippine region . The name MIMAROPA is an acronym that is composed of the names of the provinces in the region: Mi ndoro ( Occidental ; Oriental ), Ma rinduque , Ro mblon , Pa lawan . Calapan City is the regional center.

On May 17, 2002 , the Southern Tagalog district was divided into MIMAROPA and CALABARZON . A resolution passed on May 23, 2005 provided for the Palawan Province to be annexed to the Western Visayas region . However, the implementation of this resolution was temporarily suspended on August 19, 2005 and has not yet taken place.
