Coordinates: 14 ° 40 ′ N , 121 ° 15 ′ E Rizal is a province of the Philippines on the island of Luzon in the CALABARZON region (Region IV-A). The seat of the provincial government is in the city of Antipolo City . 2,884,227 people (August 1, 2015 census) live in the province.
geography
In the west, the province of Rizal borders on the Metro Manila area , in the north on the province of Bulacan , on Quezon in the east and on the province of Laguna in the south. Rizal occupies the northern shore of Laguna de Bay , the largest lake in the country.
The topography is a combination of mountains and valleys, some flat and low-lying areas in the western part, which is largely urbanized and populated, and rugged ridges that turn into rolling hills the more you go to the east and the edge of the Sierra-Madre Mountain range. The south of the province of Rizal is occupied by the banks of the Laguna de Bay. It includes the island of Talim, the largest island within the lake, with an extension of 21 km. From the higher urban area of Antipolo City there is a view of the metro Manila area. The Hinulugang Taktak, a waterfall, is one of the province's most popular tourist attractions.
The province has a total area of 1175.8 km².

The province of Rizal is politically divided into 13 independently administered municipalities and one city. The communities and the city are made up of a total of 188 barangays (districts). The province is still divided into two congressional districts .

According to a study by the National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB), Rizal is the province with the lowest poverty rate in the Philippines. It is followed by Metro Manila and the capital region.
Culture
The earliest artistic representations in the Philippines are in the province's territory. They are known as the Angono petroglyphs .
