The Hinulugang-Taktak National Park is located on the island of Luzon , Philippines . It was established in 1980 on an area of 3.34 km² in the province of Rizal in the municipality of Antipolo City . It was named after the Hinulugang-Taktak waterfall , which is located in the center of the park. This has a drop height of twelve meters and a width of approx. 15 meters. Since November 17, 2000, the national park has been designated as an access to Taktak Protected Landscape in accordance with the guidelines of the NIPAS Act.

The national park is about 24 km east of Manila in the western foothills of the Sierra Madre . The name Hinulugang Taktak means where the bell was dropped , this goes back to a legend from the 17th century in which the inhabitants of Antipolo were harassed by a church bell that made harsh, unbearably loud noises. They asked the local pastor to remove the bell. The pastor then removed the bell and threw it into the nearby river.
