The Alabat Watershed Forest Reserve is located on Alabat Island , Philippines . It was established on September 18, 1987 in an area of 323 hectares in Quezon Province in the parish of Alabat , in the barangays Bacong, Caglate, Villa Norte and Villa Victoria. It is attached to the Nipas Act of 1992 and is an initial part of the Act.
The nature reserve is located approx. 180 km southeast of Manila in the center of the elongated island of Alabat, in Lamon Bay . It comprises the largest rainforest stocks on the island. Mount Kamagong (412 meters above sea level) and the headwaters of the Langas River and its tributaries are located in the nature reserve.
The reserve is home to a wide range of the flora and fauna of the Philippines. An important tropical woods and rare plants are found Mabolo , also called Kamagong, ( blancoi Diospyros, Diospyros syn. Discolor ), Pterocarpus indicus ( Pterocarpus indicus ), Marang Litsea perrottetil , Amugis Koordersiodendoon pinnatum , Yakal ( Shorea astylosa ), the genus lauan ( Shorea spp . ), Apitong ( Dipterocarpus grandiflorus ) and Malugai ( Pometia pinnata ).
From the fauna are stocks of different species of mammals , reptiles , amphibians and insects known.
