The Calauag Watershed Reservation is located on the island of Luzon , Philippines . It was established on January 2, 1939 on an area of 328 hectares in the Quezon Province in the parishes of Calauag , Barangay Yaganak, and is an initial part of NIPAS Act 7586.
The reserve is located about 150 miles southeast of Manila , about 18 kilometers north of the community center of Calauag, and it includes larger rainforests in Quezon Province . The nature reserve is located in a hilly area and has an elevation profile of 200 to 400 meters above sea level.
The reserve is home to a wide range of the flora and fauna of the Philippines. Which is found on major tropical timber and rare plants rattan ( Calamus spp.), The bamboo ( Bambusa spp.), The Pterocarpus indicus ( Pterocarpus indicus ), Mabolo , (also called Kamagong; blancoi Diospyros, syn. Diospyros discolor ), Marang ( Litsea perrottetil ), Tangile Shorea astylosa , Yakal (also called Red Lauan; Shorea negrosensis ), Apitong ( Dipterocarpus grandiflorus ) and Malugai ( Pometia pinnata ).
Occurrences of the commons kites ( Draco Volans ), the Scopoli-woodpecker ( Dendrocopos maculatus ), the Zwergsalangane ( Collocalia troglodytes ), the white striped Kingfisher ( Halcyon chloris collaris ), the Tariktik horn bird ( Penelopides panini ), the green wing Taube ( Chalcophaps indica ), the Philippine cobra ( Naja philippinensis ), the Philippine reticulated python ( Malayopython reticulatus ), the gray monitor lizard ( Varanus olivaceus ) and the white monitor monitor ( Varanus salvator ) are known.
