Quirino is a province in the Cagayan Valley region on the island of Luzon in the Philippines .

location

To the southeast of Quirino is the province of Aurora , to the west Nueva Vizcaya and to the north Isabela . The capital is Cabarroguis . The topography of the province is dominated by the Sierra Madre in the north and the Caraballo Mountains in the southern part .

history

The province was named after Elpidio Quirino , the sixth president of the Philippines. It was once part of Nueva Vizcaya until it was separated on June 18, 1966. The Ilokano and Tagalog languages ​​are spoken in the area. 188,991 people live in the 2323.47 km² province (census August 1, 2015).
