Pandeglang is an Indonesian administrative district ( Kabupaten ) in the province of Banten , in the west of the island of Java . The beaches are a popular tourist destination.

Pandeglang is located on the west coast of Java on the Sunda Strait . To the north is the Serang government district and Lebak to the east . In the south, Pandeglang extends to the Indian Ocean. Administratively, Pandeglang is divided into 35 districts (Kecamatan) with 343 villages. The administrative district also includes the islands of Panaitan , Peucang , Deli and Tinjil .
The Ujung Kulon National Park is located in Pandeglang with the largest lowland rainforest in Java and the Java rhinos that live there . The Java rhinoceros can also be found in the coat of arms of the administrative district.
Residents
In 2017, there were 1,205,203 people, 615,297 men and 589,906 women in Pandeglang. The population density is 431 people per square kilometer. In 2010 the population was 1,149,610.
There are 3,890 mosques in the administrative district, but no Christian churches or temples of any other faith.
history
The administrative district was hardest hit by the 2018 tsunami on Java and Sumatra . The tidal wave was triggered by an eruption of the Krakatau and an underwater landslide. In Pandeglang alone there were at least 290 deaths.
