Conrad Quensel

Conrad Quensel (born April 16, 1676 in Stockholm , † January 13, 1732 in Lund ) was a Swedish astronomer and mathematician .

Life

Conrad was a son of the assessor of the Åbo court court Wilhelm Johann Quensel († 1727) and Maria, née Bröms († 1697). His first marriage was in 1706 with Anna Wallwijk († 1711), in his second marriage in 1714 Ingeborg Tholin and in his third marriage in 1720 with Anna Petronella Federsdotter.

Quensel studied at Uppsala University from 1686 , and from 1691 in Åbo , where he became a Magister Adjunct of the Faculty of Philosophy in 1694 . As a professor of mathematics at the University of Pernau, he worked from 1705 to 1710 and was rector in the summer semester of 1708. From 1712 until the end of his life he was professor of mathematics at Lund University . Quensel was the first in Sweden to officially recognize the teachings of Copernicus .
