Willem van Kester

Willem van Kester MHM (born February 1, 1906 in Kwintsheul , Netherlands ; † April 7, 1989 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Basankusu .

Life

Willem van Kester joined the Order of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill for and received on 25 May 1929, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 19, 1952, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Legia and Apostolic Vicar of Basankusu. The bishop of Haarlem , Johannes Petrus Huibers , donated him episcopal ordination on October 11 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch , Willem Pieter Adriaan Maria Mutsaerts , and the Apostolic Vicar Emeritus of the Upper Nile , John Reesinck MHM.

Willem van Kester became the first bishop of Basankusu on November 10, 1959 as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Basankusu to the diocese . He attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On November 18, 1974, Pope Paul VI. the resignation submitted by van Kester.
