The Archdiocese of Tororo ( Latin : Archidioecesis Tororoensis ) is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Mbale in eastern Uganda .
history
The forerunner of today's diocese is that of Pope Leo XIII in 1894 . Founded Apostolic Vicariate Nilo Superiore , a spin-off from the Vicariate Victoria-Nyanza . In 1951 the name was changed to Ap. Vicariate Tororo and on March 25, 1953 the elevation to the diocese by Pope Pius XII. Pope John Paul II established the Archdiocese of Tororo in 1999.
The suffragan dioceses Jinja , Kotido , Moroto and Soroti are subordinate to the archbishopric .
