John William Campling

John William Campling MHM (born September 1, 1873 in Partick , Glasgow , Scotland , † September 23, 1961 ) was a Scottish Roman Catholic religious and apostolic vicar of Nilo Superiore .

Life

John William Camp Ling joined the Congregation of the Missionary Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill for and received on 1 May 1903, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Pope Pius XI appointed him on August 6, 1923 as the first Apostolic Prefect of Buéa .

On May 13, 1925 Pius XI appointed him. as Titular Bishop of Comana Pontica and Vicar Apostolic of Nilo Superiore. The Archbishop of Westminster , Francis Alphonsus Cardinal Bourne , donated him episcopal ordination on August 24 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the General Superior of the Mission Society of St. Joseph von Mill Hill, Bishop Johannes Bierman's MHM, and Vicar Emeritus of Nilo Superiore, Henry Hanlon MHM.

Campling resigned as Vicar Apostolic of Nilo Superiore in February 1938.
