The diocese Buéa ( lat. : Dioecesis Bueaensis ) is in Cameroon situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Buéa .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Buéa on June 12, 1923 out of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Cameroon . On March 15, 1939, she was raised to the rank of Vicariate Apostolic .
With the Apostolic Constitution Laeto accepimus she was raised to the rank of diocese on April 18, 1950, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Onitsha as a suffragan . Later it became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Yaoundé . On March 18, 1982 it became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Bamenda .
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- July 14, 1950 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Yola ;
- August 13, 1970 to the diocese of Bamenda ;
- February 9, 1999 to the diocese of Mamfe ;
- March 15, 2016 to the diocese of Kumba .
