John Francis Greif MHM (born September 23, 1897 in Mölten , South Tyrol , † August 17, 1968 ) was an Austrian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Tororo .

Life

John Francis Greif joined the Order of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill for and received on 16 July 1922, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 10, 1951, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Belabitene and Apostolic Vicar of Tororo. The Apostolic Delegate for the African Missions, Archbishop David James Mathew , ordained him episcopally on July 25 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Vicar Emeritus of Nilo Superiore, John Reesinck MHM, and the Vicar Apostolic of Kampala , Vincent Billington MHM.

John Francis Greif became the first bishop of Tororo on March 25, 1953 as a result of the elevation of the Vicariate Apostolic Tororo to the diocese . Greif attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
