Gérard Wantenaar MHM (born March 19, 1886 in Soest , Netherlands ; † December 3, 1951 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicar of Basankusu .

Life

Gérard Wantenaar joined the religious order of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill for and received on 25 July 1909, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On February 2, 1927, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the first Apostolic Prefect of Basankusu.

On January 8, 1948 Gérard Wantenaar was due to the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture Basankusu to the Apostolic Vicariate first Vicar Apostolic of Basankusu and Pius XII. appointed him titular bishop of Uzalis . The Vicar Apostolic of Kisumu , Nicolas Stam MHM, donated him episcopal ordination on April 14th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Nellore , William Bouter MHM, and the Apostolic Vicar Emeritus of Manado , Joannes Walter Panis MSC .
