The Roman Catholic Diocese of Basankusu ( lat. : Dioecesis Basankusuensis ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Basankusu .
history
The Basankusu diocese was founded on July 28, 1926 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Cum etiam from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Nouvelle-Anvers as the Apostolic Prefecture of Basankusu . The Basankusu Apostolic Prefecture was founded on January 8, 1948 by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution ad potioris raised to the Apostolic Vicariate . The Apostolic Vicariate Basankusu gave on June 14, 1951 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Isangi .
On November 10, 1959, the Vicariate Apostolic Basankusu was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mbandaka-Bikoro as a suffragan .
