The diocese of Lisala ( lat. : Dioecesis Lisalaensis ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Lisala .

history

The diocese Lisala was on April 3, 1919 by Pope Benedict XV. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Quae Catholico nomini from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Léopoldville as Apostolic Vicariate Nouvelle-Anvers . On February 11, 1924, the Vicariate Apostolic Nouvelle-Anvers gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Tsuapa . Another cession took place on July 28, 1926 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Basankusu . On January 27, 1936, the Vicariate Apostolic Nouvelle-Anvers by Pope Pius XI. Renamed with the Apostolic Constitution Litteris Apostolicis in Apostolic Vicariate Lisala . The Apostolic Vicariate Lisala gave on June 14, 1951 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Isangi .

On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Lisala was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mbandaka-Bikoro as a suffragan . The Diocese of Lisala gave up on November 25, 1964 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Budjala .
