Panichs Lache formerly also Panigs Lache is an approximately 1.6 kilometer long oxbow lake of the Batschke and the Pleiße in the Elster- Pleiße-Aue. It is a left tributary of the Pleiße in the Leipzig district of Connewitz .

course

Panichs Lache branched off on the right-hand side of the Batschke at the border between the Markkleeberg district of Gautzsch and Connewitz and shortly thereafter took a branch of the Jungfernlache , which was formerly a branch of the Pleiße. It then meandered through the floodplain in several arms and flowed into the Pleiße about two hundred meters southeast of the Batschke on the left.

Water flow

Due to the deepening of the Batschke by about one meter, Panichs Lache is no longer fed by the Batschke. It carries water constantly in the five meter wide lower reaches and in the narrow upper reaches only after heavy rain events or when the snow melts. The lower course of Panichs Lache is also flooded by the Pleiße during minor floods.
