Paolo Carozza

Paolo G. Carozza (born June 4, 1963 in Maryland ) is an American political scientist .

Paolo Carozza, son of Italian immigrants, studied social sciences at Harvard University , where he received his doctorate in law. He is a member of the conservative Federalist Society and has been a professor at the University of Notre Dame in the US state of Indiana since 1996 ; His teaching and research interests are human rights , comparative law , European and Latin American legal traditions, international law and development. He has been Director of the Kellogg Institute for international Studies since 2012 .

From 2006 to 2010 Carozza was a member of the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights , whose president from 2008 to 2009. In 2016 he was appointed by Pope Francis to the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

He is married and has five children.
