Paolo Giordano I. Orsini

Paolo Giordano I. Orsini (* 1541 ; † November 13, 1585 ) was the first Duke of Bracciano from 1560 .

The son of Girolamo Orsini and Francesca Sforza married Isabella de 'Medici , daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici , in 1558 . The man described as brutal and quick-tempered took part in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 , and in 1573 he took part in the Spanish expedition against Tunis with six Tuscan ships. In 1576 he had his wife strangled because of her relationship with his cousin Troilo Orsini in the Villa Medici of Cerreto Guidi near Florence . The following year he also had Troilo murdered in Paris. After his wife's murder, Paolo fled to Rome, where he entered into a relationship with the married Vittoria Accoramboni . He also had her husband Francesco Peretti murdered in 1581. as a result he fled with Vittoria to Venice, then to Abano and Salò . He married Vittoria on April 20, 1585, but died that same year. In December 1585 Vittoria was also murdered by Ludovico Orsini from the Monterotondo line.

Paolo Giordano's goods went to Virginio Orsini , his son with Isabella.
